In honor of Earth Day 2008, LIPA is offering a to LIPA customers. Between March 1 and May 31, residential customers are eligible to receive 50 cents off eligible ENERGY STAR qualified CFLs at participating retail stores. CFLs in single packs will be 50 cents off while CFLs in multiple bulb packages will be up to $4 off.

The Long Island Power Authority (the “Authority”) is soliciting proposals from experienced and qualified firms through this Request for Proposals (“RFP”) to provide energy risk management advisory services and a license permitting the use of an energy risk management software system. All firms submitting proposals should be experienced in consulting and advising public power authorities and/or municipal entities similar to the Authority or investor-owned electric utilities in the area of energy trading operations. Based on the responses to this RFP, the Authority expects to retain one firm to perform work as further described in the RFP.

As of noon today the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) had restored power to over 81,000 customers of the 89,490 experiencing outages island-wide due to Sunday’s severe weather system. Most of the damage was isolated to Suffolk County.
